Kedarnath– Abode of Lord Shiva
Kedarnath is one of the holiest Hindu pilgrimage sites and an important part of the Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand, India. Nestled in the majestic Garhwal Himalayas at an altitude of about 3,583 meters (11,755 feet), the temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas.
According to Hindu mythology, the temple was built by the Pandavas to seek forgiveness from Lord Shiva after the Mahabharata war. The original temple is believed to have been established by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century. Sightseeing Places in Kedarnath
Badrinath
Abode of Lord Vishnu According to Hindu mythology, Lord Vishnu meditated at this place for thousands of years. During his meditation, the area was extremely cold. Goddess Lakshmi took the form of a Badri tree (berry tree) to protect him from the harsh weather.
Because of this, the place came to be known as Badrinath (the land of the Badri tree). The present temple is believed to have been established by the great philosopher Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century, who discovered the idol of Lord Vishnu in the Alaknanda River and enshrined it at Badrinath.
